Hi Everyone.
We need some advice this evening we caught one of our 14 week old light sussex hens swallowing a 3inch plastic drinking straw , she seems fine but should we do anything or just wait for nature to take its course?

its a case of wait and see unfortunatly im thinking that you may lose the bird as they cannot really pass that with it being stiff.. hope the bird does get rid of it for ya tho :shock:

Oh dear! Good luck :shock: I was wondering about dosing with a little olive oil or cod liver oil might help. I also thought keeping her away from long grass or anything that could hamper the straws progress? ie get tangled up in it? will cross fingers for her.

Well, we never saw that string again, but then it wasn't plastic but cotton, on the other hand it must have been over 2ft long!!!!
