I grow my spuds in a bed 16ft x 16ft (7 rows) and that does my family for the year. I think it's worth growing them just for the taste - there really is nothing tastier than freshly dug Charlottes with a bit of spinach around them. Mmmmm, mouth is watering at the thought.

My plot is about 1/3 fruit (trees and soft), 2/3 planned beds in a four-year rotation. I also grow some stuff in containers in amongst the fruit trees

Hi Rob, I'm over on the Old Gala Grounds.. I've probably gone overboard with spuds this year.. but for me it's about two things, home grown new spuds and the main crop varieties you rarely find in the shops (for me that's Golden Wonder, a family favourite for at least three generations).

Hi Alistair, that sounds good, I assume they are the ones they use for crisps...yum.

I'll have to have a ponder about main crop spud growing. I've got a month or two before the beds are all completed (he said optimistically) so no immediate rush to decide.
