Hello Lady...  My girls only get a handfull of corn at night (keeps them warm in winter)...  a few green leaves a couple of days a week.   They LOVE dandelion flowers which I pick a few each every day, I split the yellow heads in half as the bantams find a whole dandelion head too much to handle!    This on top of their layers pellets which they have access to all the time.

mine have mixed corn in the afternoons, they also love sunflower hearts, meal worms and sweetcorn. My cockerel loves tomatoes, especially the seeds. On snowy or frosty mornings mine also have porridge made with water (but if I have none of this they get ready brek or even muesli made with water again).
Staffies are softer than you think.

Do not feed bread as this can cause compaction of the crop.

Wonderful! Keep em coming please :D

Mine don't seem to like sweetcorn, but I'll give the sunflower hearts a go, I have plenty of those for the wild birds.

don't give them too many just a few as they are fattening, same with grated or crumbled cheese (wild birds and ducks also love cheese). Some hens and ducks also like grapes and ripe bananas  :D

Aldi had an offer recently - seed "bells" for budgies etc.... bought a few for the girls as treats - hang them up so they have to cope with it swinging as they peck at it and they seem to be very happy with them.

I think one of mine might be vegetarian - I throw in some dried mealworms they all come running but then she turns her nose up.... happens each time, but with vegetables she dives in to eat!

just a word of warning
I think i may well have killed my favourite hen by giving her the wrong foods, :( Lonely was our all out favourite girl, she had a very hard time before she came to us and we wanted to make up for it, we spoiled her rotton, she came in every morning for her breakfast of reddy brek (too much salt?) and then 6 months on took the liberty of turning up for afternoon tea :) (tuna, bread soaked in milk or her favourit pasta) she was given some treat everytime she asked, i was devastated when she became ill, despite a trip to the vet (poultry vet) and round the clock nursing she died, we consoled ourselves that at least she had experienced freedom for the first time in her life, i have no doubt she knew we loved and cherished her, but i am left wondering.........had she been kept on a proper diet, would she still be alive like the rest of her less spoilt housemates?
