Flavoured vinegar
« on: April 15, 2023, 16:55 »
Picked up some tips and links from this site as eldest son said he wanted "interesting vinegars" for his birthday.
Next door got rosemary in their window box but not that aromatic so bunged in some dried plus lemon zest,  Had to buy tarragon so combined that with bay leaf.  Found a couple of lemongrass stalks in the freezer and paired it with Indonesian lime leaves.  And then, for a laugh,  got some liquorice discs, boiled them with the vinegar and bunged in a couple of bits of root.  Dunno what it will taste like when steeped but qualifies as interesting.
I also  had some loganberry vinegar surviving from last autumn so let him have half of that.
So that was 5.
Anyone tried owt else?  I might get more vinegar and try garlic flavour for my use.  Maybe some of the above if my guinea pig says they're OK

I only make them as a by-product from pickling but both garlic and chilli vinegars are great.
