Title: trying to save tea leaves to compost
Post by: upthetump on February 08, 2008, 10:05
BUT they keep going mouldy. I've tried drying them out and seperating them from the teabags, but, as i'm storing them until it gets warmer to put in compost bin they are going off. Anyone got any ideas where i'm going wrong? All help appreciated

Mouldy is good! The microbes which will break down the leaves are already beginning their work, and will continue to do so in your compost bin.

Put them in the compost bin now, you don't need to save them. And you don't need to break up the teabags, they will all rot away happily.

Even in my wintery climate I take a bowlful to the compost bin every few days.

A little is OK, but don't go mad it can slow down the composting process and clag together.
