Title: Shading / Temp in Greenhouse
Post by: argonaut on May 01, 2011, 10:52
Bought my first green house ... finished putting it up last week ..
http://tinyurl.com/6gntx5r (http://"http://tinyurl.com/6gntx5r")

It now has 5 varieties of tomatoes, cucumber, chilli's, Aubergines & peppers underway.

I have fitted 2 x auto window openers, these start opening at around 26 degrees, fully open at 32 degrees, they are adjustable so is this about right ?

I also have a louvre vent .. which I open late morning (that 'may' get an auto opener as well in future)

Question now on shading ..

Understand that as well as temp I need to provide shading ... is that o roof on South facing side ? ... or horizontal elevation as well ? ... or perhaps just the horizontal?

Greenhouse gets full sun on roof dawn to mid morning, and the horizontal mid morning till dusk.

What is most practical option (not wishing to cover glass with paint / liquid or similar)
Do I 'peg' to it some green mesh ?

Open to suggestions form those that know.

I have painted mine with shading paint for the first time this year, but before I have always just hung old sheets over the outside (of the south and west facing sides) secured with clothes pegs. It doesn't look very pretty but is effective and easy to take them off/peg them aside when the weather is cooler.
