Title: Propagating crocuses
Post by: SpudtheBinx on May 28, 2008, 15:27
Hi, we have some crocuses in a pot, and I can see there are some baby corms appearing. This was news to me as I thought they were bulbs and would just divide like daffs or something. Anyway, at what point to I split these corms up so I can have more crocuses? Do I wait till the autum, or perhaps spring?

I don't know what is the particular advised timing for this, but I just do propagate most my bulbs and corms in the greenish, after flowering, otherwise have no chance of finding them and once they re-shoot, it's obviously late.

Quite right always propagate when you see things otherwise you never do. Mix grit in with a good compost and in about 2 years you will have full sized corms. They may not be the same as the mother plant but who wants same old same old all the time any way.
