hen keeping
« on: September 28, 2010, 16:54 »
i have only been doing this hen keeping for a very short while -but i love it! It is soo nice to see them all trotting up the ramp at dusk and to come down and greet me in the mornings!  i havent even had any eggs yet - but when i do it will make it soo very rewarding! I suppose i am just being silly coz i am sure everyone else must feel the same ?!
regards Patricia

I'm new too! I love my chooks as much as some people love their cats and dogs. They're such characters, I could watch them for hours! My husband thought the novelty would wear off pretty quickly but my obsession is just getting worse. And now I've found this site I feel much more confident too!

I came downstairs from decorating this afternoon to find a very wet chicken sitting on my daughter's knee watching tv and being dried with a hairdryer.

Mine live on my plot, which by chance is at the back of the house through the gate in the fence  8)
Anyways they love being with me when I am on there digging and clearing etc, they can see me coming and their heads pop up with excitement, then when I am digging away they scratch and get their heads just about where the spade is going to come crushing down  ::) looking and waiting for the worms n bugs, the other morning we were having a good digging sesh and as I looked up, we had about 5 people watching us and laughing. They make better pets on there than dogs I reckon.
Enjoy them, the eggs are just a bonus, the chooks are the real pleasure.
