I got 1 out of 3 hardwood lavender cuttings (Hidcote) to take last year, so this year I'm trying softwood cuttings, which some say root quicker and more reliably (not that anyone says they're difficult whichever method you use.)
Now is as good a time as any - main task is to find shoots without flower buds, cut about 4" off, remove lower leaves, pinch out growing point, stick in compost and keep moist. Only potted mine up 3 days ago so too early to say how well this method will work.
Once they're rooted I'll pot them on and keep them in the GH for planting out next year, although English
lavenders are pretty tough and would probably survive OK outdoors (French are less hardy, although better at football.
