Following on from some good advice I have been offered on this forum on my 'gettes, I wondered how many fruit per plant I can expect during its life?
Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

I normally get on average around 70 per plant over the season, may be more, it certainly seems it.

I get far more than my culinary imagination can cope with!
About 30-40 per plant, which is why I only have two plants.

My courgettes started off well, then all of a sudden the fruits are getting to about 3 inches long and dying.  They are watered every evening without fail- temp here is high at the moment.  One plant looks a bit better, the fruit mught stay on that. Had about 6 off each so far.  I need more!!

Hi oliveview.  That was happening to mine a couple of weeks ago and WG said to stop watering for a while as the plants were very young and don't have enough root development.  Well as you know the skies opened, but now they are bigger the problem has gone away.

As for CPP count, by the end of last season I was willing them to die and even when they looked half dead they still chucked out more, so pretty good.

... but bleeping heck ... 12 courgette plants ... are you completely barmy??

I have 3 and honest to goodness that keeps me, my friend LeeAnne and anyone else I can get hold of going with courgettes for the entire summer.

I picked ... now was it 6 or 7 ... on Monday and expect to pick another 6 or 7 later this week.  And I've only got 3 plants!

Courgette bake for dinner last night ... with broad beans.

It starts!!!!

I'm guessing these figures relate to plants in the ground, I have one in a hanging basket (2 x 4" courgettes), and one in a 10" pot (3 X 4" fat courgettes).

Any guesses as to what they might produce in a dull, damp
& windy Blackpool (presuming the bl**dy slugs n snails don't finnish them off).

Oooh - courgettes in a hanging basket! That's a great idea!
Does it work okay?

Got a couple of baskets of tumbling toms in big baskets and they are doing pretty well so far. Pretty slug proof I guess!!!

One plant so far has so far produced 12, I feed mine with tom food once they start producing, just been down this morning and the said plant has 4 which will be/are nearly ready now.  . Think the difference grannie is mine are in dirty big holes filled with manure etc which I think will always produce more than a hanging basket.

Mine are in the top of the compost heap Aidy, so doing well fruit wise, its just that the courgettes on one of the plants seem to be going soft, but I think it may be all this water!!!!!
