Broad bean question

Me beans are about waist high (and growing) with at least 4 sets of flowers, should I let them continue or nip the tops off.

According to Doc Hessayon you pinch out the top 3" as soon as the first beans develop. This ensures an earlier crop and helps control blackfly.

I pinch the tops out for blackfly control - seems to work

Apparently the pinched out tops are good steamed or stir fried.

I've heard that and willing to give it a go but only before the blackfly have landed
