how far apart should i plant courgettes ty

I'd say atleast 3 feet as they can get pretty big! If you can afford the room a bit more would be better.

I plant bush courgettes 1.5m apart, and they still touch at the sides

I send mine out over the paths - you can get a bit more in then.

Mine are planted in builders buckets placed almost side by side - or wherever there's space to place a bucket

I will plant mine 1 metre apart.

1 metre apart - but I plant mine through a black plastic mulch - dig a hole beneath - through in half a cheap grow bag - a watering pipe added  - directed at the roots - works a treat.

It does depend on the variety though. Some varieties make a nice compact little bush, but other varieties sprawl over the ground like a vine and need a lot more space. What variety are you growing?

Trailing types can be planted closer together than bush types because they can be "persuaded" to grow away from the planting area (of course that will only work if you've got room for them to ramble!)

Mine will be cosy as hubby wants to grow on all 28 I have told him he is being stupid but it's cosy or plant them in every hedgerow between here and timbuctoo. He'll be the one moaning when he has to work his way through five million jars of cougrgette chutney through the winter.

He decided to use up the whole packet because he's a numpty.  I just laughed when they first came up. He obviously didn't expect them all to survive. He may not when he eats all those courgettes.

In our first year allotmenting my friend planted 17 courgettes. Even after refusing to water and feed them all she was still left with an average of 30 a week for a while...

Her friends took to hiding from her.

That would probably fill my whole plot. I wonder if you can train them up a pole like cucumbers.
