Yeah, Jamie gets my respect for school dinners and 15 - how he didn't fire them I don't know.

My sis in law, the teacher says one of the things against teaching cooking and gardening is health and safety. What if they hurt each other with a hot pan or fork. I suppose they'll ban pencils next.

Yea been watching that to, some respect he moved away from Yorkshire    I think this will be the next thing with these chefs, there is that other guy who has the pub, he is on good food live and he has his own veg plot, of course Anthony Worrell Thompson has his own plot with little piggies etc in so I think they are all jumping on the band wagon which may have something to do with the intrest in allottments again, its becoming trendy. just think it wont be long that having a plot will be a status symbol soon.

Having a plot already is a status symbol - however, I've noticed some of these newcomers don't last too long when faced with a plot of clay and a spade.
What does suprise me is when you try and explain what to do and they ignore you completely then wonder why their crops are pathetic between the weeds.
Usually someone else is on the plot after rent day.
The other side of the coin are the newcomers who get into it, dig it over and keep it well. They generally read some books on growing and make a fair start and then start to ask for help when things go wrong - as we all do.
Bit like anyone else really :)

my 12 yr old daughter is doing domestic science at high school and all she makes is coleslaw, potato salad, dip, nothing that you could call a meal, but her lesson only lasts an hour, there should be more emphasis on life skills in schools.luckily she bakes with me and can make a great loaf
of bread.
