Broody has eaten an egg!!
« on: May 10, 2009, 17:11 »
Dear all,

Can you help? My broody hen that has been sat on her eggs for a week now appears to have eaten one of her eggs. The contents have gone except for the embryo which was left. She had moved the egg shell away from the nest into the run.

Why has she done this? Does this mean she will do the same with the other eggs as the 21 days goes on? Do i need to do anything?

Help appreciated.

Thanks

It may have just cracked and she is cleaning up. How long do you  have to go?

It was def her as she is in a secured covered run and nest box on her own. Very odd.
