size difference
« on: June 15, 2013, 17:09 »
Cam someone tell me the difference in size between a bantam, hybrid and large fowl.
I've kept bantam RIR's for many years and are considering changing to hybrids but want a smallish docile bird (as I don't want the neighbours to get upset by much noise). what do people think would be the best option and varieties.

I had all 3 types of different breeds and find them vocal when laying sometimes, vocal when wanting to be let out of the run area to free range and vocal when startled with their warning noise. Rest of the time fine.

The most docile ones I've had ar the hybrid brown and cream, like the Goldlines, Warrens and ISA's.  They are slightly larger than a bantam, but not as big as say the Orpingtons

They generally weigh between 1.75 and 2 kgs, but I've never measured their height!  ;)
