plant id please.
« on: May 21, 2012, 12:08 »
well here i go with my first question, haven't been in 5 minutes and i'm bugging you guys already. I have a plant which i'm pretty sure came from a wild seed packet ages ago. This plant seems to like where it is which is everywhere, not that i'm bothered i do like it. I thought it looked like rapeseed but its got a purple flower, so any ideas would be great, thanks in advance.

give it a sniff

if it's scentless it's honesty

if it's fragrant it's dame's violet. Photo is right colour for DV but honesty is very variable

You'll know if it is honesty or dames violet (sweet rocket) by the seed cases..

Honesty = papery silver moon cases with large flat seeds

Dames Violet = long narrow seed cases with tiny seeds

Hope than helps.

The leaves do look more like honesty than our sweet rocket, which are longer and narrower, but it is hard to tell. Honesty is not scented though
