Title: Plant ID
Post by: MalcW on July 29, 2015, 14:42
Hi all

Does anyone know what this tree is? It's around 30ft high and growing in the back garden of our new house.

Thanks.

Possibly a twisted willow

Looks like that to me, but we call it a corkscrew willow.  You can chop them right back, and they will survive (we have manage to keep ours to about 6ft with a severe prune every year).

Thanks, that's good to know. When the time comes we're going to get it pruned back. It's a nice tree though, so we don't want to lose it.

They like it moist!  Mine grew in our garden pond for a while as I put it in there for the frogs to use as a ladder. Poor thing. It was in a pot at the time
