Hi all,
I planted a peony tuber about 3 years' ago - each spring it comes up with 2 or 3 stems, but no sign of any buds. Do I just need to wait a bit longer for it to establish, or could it be that it needs more sun (it's a north west facing garden)? I'm wondering whether to take a chance and move it to a sunnier spot.

They have a reputation for not flowering if they are planted too deep. They must be only just under the surface and prefer a sunny position to flower well.

Thanks - yes, I think I've probably planted it too deep, plus I mulched it with more compost in the winter thinking that would help! May try moving it at the end of the year.

yes, definitely in the wrong situation. I have one in my south facing garden, which I moved a few years ago, it took a season to settle but now it is very happy, and I confess to doing nothing to it other than admire.
Good luck, Mrs Bouquet
