can any one advise on storing apples please
we had gluts this year - have stored some in veg boxes with newspaper between them but they seem to have dried out a lot , they have not gone mouldy , just a bit shrively
-
Some varieties store better than others, so it may just be down to that.
How warm were they in storage?
-
Varieties that ripen the latest store the best. Our Golden Delicious are not ripe until mid November, and they store for months with no trouble.
As Yorkie said, might also be the conditions perhaps?
-
not sure of variety tree was here already ,
storing them in a dark cool garage out of frost , plenty of air round them , they were smallish ones
-
When were they ripe?
-
ummm about October
-
They should be OK then. Perhaps it is just that they are small ones.
Not sure.
You could peel them and eat them or cook them if you are worried they won't last

Sorry I could not be more help.
Maybe someone else will come along with a better suggestion

You could also peel, chop and freeze in open layers uncooked.
