Bulb Planting
« on: September 28, 2019, 19:42 »
So I have bought cheap bags of daffodils and tulips from Wilkinsons to plant at the plot for cut flowers, and intend to put in the daffodils next week.(tulips next month)
I intend overplanting with half hardy annuals for the summer when the bulbs have died down.

Do I need to put any BFB or other fertiliser in with them, or leave that until the spring when I put in the annuals.

Thanks
Elaine

I usually feed bulbs in spring when they are getting going and then again as the flowers fade and the leaves are feeding up the bulb ready for the following year.

In practice, this means I chuck some pelleted chicken manure around over them and whatever is growing with them gets a bonus.  Seems to work fine  :)
