HI, im moving house within the next few weeks so will now have a garden big enough to keep chickens.
i am looking into having rescued battery hens, has anyone on here had rescue hens.

You'll find there are several of us on here who have ex battery hens.  We've got 54 left out of 70.  We got 50 last September, and 20 at Easter, but some of they are too worn out to last long, but at least they have had a good life in a big house and run while they were alive.

thankyou so much for your reply i enjoyed lookinging and listening to the links. we move this friday all being well so hopefully it wont be long before we can have our own fresh eggs.

I adopted 15 ex battery hens and it has been a pleasure to look after them. They are pretty un photogenic when you get them and you do feel that in some cases you might want to knit wooly jumpers, but within a couple of months they really do pick up. My ladies run to meet me when I go on the field to put them to bed at night.
Enjoy them when they arrive.
Happiest in the countryside.
Breathe deeply, and let the butterflies fly in formation!
