Just received a 'phone call from my ecstatic six year old to tell me that our first egg has been duly delivered. My hens are paying their way already!! They were a little disappointed this morning to find the nest box empty but it was checked again on their return from school. By all accounts, the first egg is light brown and speckled so I suspect the little welsummer.
