exhaust flue - reuse for heating greenhouse
« on: March 04, 2010, 15:59 »
Have you ever thought of using exhaust flue to heat the greenhouse. Couple of things to be taken care of is
1. need a Carbon monoxide tester to test inside of the house after finishing installation and working.
2. you need exhaust from the greenhouse which can be done by attaching an exhaust (with electric exhaust fan connected to the circuitry of main exhaust fan) from the plinth level.
The idea is hot air stays at top and cold air is exhausted from the base.
have been thinking about this for long time but couldnt build a prototype as my garden is very small to build a greenhouse.
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

IF your talking about the flue from a gas boiler then I would not advise it.
unless you have a Gh of over 1000m2 it will VERY quickly become toxic in there what ever venting you have.
also dont think it would pass a CORGI/Gassafe inspection and would invalidate any warrenty.
AFAIK boilers have to be vented to the outside.
hope this helps.
dont permissum dandelions frendo vos down.

If it cant be pulled by hand,
1; its not ready
2; use a landrover...

If you are talking about a fanned flue or a balanced flue boiler ( the type of flue that comes out of the side of the house wall) then you are asking for real trouble.
It is not just a flue, it is also the air intake for the boiler, if there is a lack of air (oxygen) to the boiler the boiler will not burn correctly and will start to produce carbon monoxide instead of carbon dioxide , at the very least you'll damage the boiler and at worst .......

sorry if it sounds a little ott, but It's the truth .

If I've got the wrong end of the stick please put me right  :)
