Leaf mould
« on: November 08, 2008, 21:04 »
Hi green finger here, I visited my relative yesterday and he told me to go to the park and collect all the leaves and tie them up in bin bags, then he said to leave them rot for 18 months. I dont know a lot about this sort of stuff but is he right. He also told me to collect sheep droppings.

Oh and also is november a good time to manaure the soil.

yes to leaves - its exactly how those 'professional' sorts on gardeners world tell u to do.
sheep droppings are good to collect and rot down then put them on next year or the year after.
yes its exactly the right time to manure the soil, sooner the better now

Q1) Yes, But make sure you make lots of little holes in the bags to let air circulate. (use the rake)
Q2) Sheep droppings are meant to make great manure i've read. Perhaps put them in the compost?
Q3) Yes, But I think some of the nutrients will get washed in during the winter months, so I'm going to try early spring.

Sheep droppings make a great tomato feed. Tie them up in an old stocking or leg off a pair of tights & drop into a bucket of water.

When well steeped, dilute one jam jar to a watering can.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I love that kind of measuring system :D
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".
