Do you think that silkies are a hard chicken to rear as they are prone to disease.

one of the easiest breeds in my opinion i have had silkies for 20 years and never had any ilness or disease i have at the moment white, black and blue i also have silkie crosses and would recomend them to anybody.

Hi Alan, what about silkie crosses? Crossed with the same kind of hen as a battery hen? I have 6 of those chicks 2 weeks old and they are gorgeous, how old do they need to be before I can sex them, and take them away from their mother???(Being raised by a White Sussex Bantam)(Wicked clockers/brooders)... :D

I'd love to see some pictures of your silkies.  Would you be able to post any pictures of them in the poultry pictures sticky in this section.  :D
