JANUARY SAUSAGES

I thought I would give chicken recipes a break and go for this.
It is enjoyed by both young and old, and can be adapted as you wish.

1 packet of good sausages (Cumberland are good, but its your choice)
1 tin of good chopped tomates
1 (or some) green pepper
1       "         red pepper
1       "         white onion
1       "          red onion
Some celery off the green end.
2 or so large garlic cloves
A good dollop of red wine (optional)
A heaped tspn of mixed herbs, or herbs de provence

Lightly cook the onions (if you've got time) then brown off the sausages.
Put everything in a casserole, and season if you wish.
Then put the casserole into the microwave just to take the chill off, then pop it into a hot oven (I use fan at 185c)  and cook for about 45 minutes

This recipe is one of my own, and can be adapted to whatever you have available.  As alternatives you can add lentils, or pulse beans.

Serve, with potatoes or rolls, or rice or pasta.  Cheap, easy and scrummy,  enjoy.  Mrs Bouquet

Our favourite sausage casserole - but don't taste it before the allotted time as it will taste foul!

Heat some olive oil in a pan and fry sausages (pork) until brown.  Add an onion and fry until soft.  Pour in one bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale and 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce and 1 level tsp mustard.  Add a sprinkle of thyme.  Cover and simmer 45 mins.  Serve with new pots and veg.

I've tried it before the 'allotted' time (to see if what they say is right, and yes they were).

Both recipies sound interesting, I'll have to try them when OH is away next. She's not keen on snorkers.
