We have only just got our allotment, and these would also come in handy at home as well.

I've got more or less the same mower at home. Both my sister and I use it, and it's been fine.
If the strimmer is in the same league as the "el-cheapo" one I bought from Argos (spear and jackson), then for that money you can't go wrong!
