Now here is a novel idea. Fill a 2ltr bottle with water, add a drop of bleach to stop algea and you have a free light bulb equivalent to 60watts.

Can't quite believe that something that simple would actually work

(But will give it a go!)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I think it involves making a hole in the shed roof  :)

Great idea in principle, but I wonder how well it works in limited light, as in when there is cloud cover.

Is a this on a tv programme a while ago. The use it in the slums in Brazil and South Africa to make the houses bright enough to see in. The houses are built so close together there is minimal natural light.

Ah, I see.

I was planning on just putting the bottle near the shed window ... guess that won't work then.

A neigbour has a 12 volt photovoltaic panel that he bought from Halfords (I think £25ish).  He feeds that to a car battery and has 12 volt lights in his workshop.

Fabulous idea but i think i would just replace the shed roof with clear polyplastic, you an buy that in sheets big enough to cover a 6 x 4 ft pent roof. plus it would be leak proof.

What happens to the waterproof joint when the bottle and any water around it freezes and thaws a few times ?

Frost will eventually level mountains so corrugated roofing may not last long.

Great idea if you live in a warmer climate ! :)
