I have got 2 recipes for toffee. After you have made the toffe just cover the apples with it.
Everton Toffee
4 tbs water
4 oz butter (100 g)
12 oz (300) demerara sugar
2 level abs golden syrup
1 level tbs black treacle
Put all ingrediants in a pan, Heat slowlyuntill butter melts and sugar dissolves.
Bring to the boil. Cover pan. Boil gently for 2 mins Uncover. continue to boil stirring occasionly for 10 to 15 mins. When a small amount is droped into water it seperates into hard and brittle threads. You can now cover the apples.
