they are usually sold in the green at flowering time and that's just how they are selling them on e-bay ;) They then die down for the summer and reappear in the spring :)

Nicky's-nursery sells seeds, and Jekka's herb farm sells them in pots.....but they're out of stock :(

As far as I know, wild Garlic grows from seed and not from a clove, like 'real' garlic.

I know from picking and eating wild garlic in our local woods that I don't eat the bulb, only the flowers and leaves...

I am sure someone will be along shortly who has far more knowledge than I do. Maybe I have been missing out on Wild Garlic cloves all this time!  :)

Cheers

Jim

Added:..just found another supplier other than ebay, though I must admit I prefer to go and find mine in the wild...

My neighbour tried to grow it a few years ago by digging some up and replanting (very naughty and possibly illegal). He found it hard to recreate the damp conditions it seemed to prefer in the wild as it tended to be found alongside a stream local to us.

pretty sure you can eat the bulb of a wild garlic, it's just not clove like.

why not try digging some wild ones up an replanting?? or just use them from the wild....some of the roadsides round my way (berks/hants) have been covered this spring. such a pretty sight when you drive past

It is illegal to dig up wild garlic so can't recommend that at all.

Per the Botanical Society of the British Isles (BSBI)

Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981, which covers Britain, it is illegal to uproot any wild plant without permission from the landowner or occupier. Uproot is defined as to dig up or otherwise remove the plant from the land on which it is growing, whether or not it actually has roots;

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I bought wild garlic in the green last year from eBay and have just had a "crop" from it. :)
