Just been to Focus in Rawtenstall and picked up three whitecurrant bushes and two small courgette? marrow? (no idea, no labels) - 10p each.

There's not a lot wrong with them and oddly, there were manky, half-dead peppers still priced at £2.99... but I reckon a few trips back over the next couple of weeks will see a lot more bargains (I have my eye on some blackcurrant and grapes) 

Oh, they're also doing herbs, two for the price of one.

Popped back atr lunchtime and virtually everything fruit and veggie is £1.

There's a reason for that though... a sadder selection of plants you are unlikely to find!

I 'rescued' a cucumber (the only one with a remotely cucumber-shaped fruit, all the rest were obscene), a strawberry hanging basket (worth a quid for the basket alone, I thought) and a 'tree-shaped' french lavender that looks in a very sorry state (I reckon a good hard prune will see it right for next year.

Please, everyone - rescue what you can from the barbaric Focus hoardes... they've got all sorts inclusing aubergines and some fruit canes...

Ive rescued four cracking bay trees and given them all my TLC, they are now looking like the healthy ones that they sell for at least £60 each. Not bad for about £11 in total.
Got some great dwarf conifers too.  I love buying 'hospital' plants

 On the other hand, the sale (dying) cabbages etc Ive bought before now were too late to rescue
