Title: Information please.

Probably if I read articals/threads elsewhere I will find the information but simply do not have time.
Friend keeps chickens, about 6 I think, no sure of the type/breeds.
I found out 2-3 days ago that they went into hospital about 4 weeks back and a neighbours daughter is looking after the chickens (as best I know at this time).
Quick visit to the house and the chickens have water and food.
Questions:
Will they be all right on the pellets all the time?
What alternatives could I go buy for them to be fed, in addition to the pellets?
Do they require a lot of sand or whatever to dig around in?

Any/all other simple information/advice gratefully received.

Hi SG6. The pellets contain everything a chicken needs but they would thrive better on some greens as well. They would also need some poultry grit to grind it down.

As long as they have a constant supply of pellets and clean, fresh water, they will be ok.

Are they being cleaned out and getting fresh straw/shavings do you know ?

And do they have access to a secure run ?

They don't need much:

Pellets
fresh water
greens if possible
grit and oyster shell (they don't NEED this if they are only eating pellets)
dust bath (big box with dirt in is fine)

Collect eggs
