Drowned Busy Lizzies.
« on: May 16, 2019, 18:59 »
This year I bought Westlands compost, not used that for a long time.   Prepared pots/tubs as usual and planted.   The top layer of the compost dries right out, and without checking underneath, gave them a very very big drink.    Then I watched them start to go yellow   This morning one had died completely, so I moved the others around, and planted a geranium in the middle, and struggled and moved the large pot, across the garden to be in continual sun and the winds.   I shall have to remember the check 1" down rule  :D

Aaaaw, poor you, Mrs B!

Did their drink come up from a tray at the bottom? Westland is quite potent, and possibly they'll need some time to get used to it all until summer arrives.

I've just put our's out to harden off tonight, with a blanket overnight to keep them safe, but they can be quite demanding until they get to late-teenage years, when we have to get the pods and let them explode, probably like most teenagers do anyway (if they're lucky)..;0)

I managed to save all bar one.  I moved the pot to a spot in the garden where it is continually sunny and windy, which has dry it out, and now they are happy.  :)  Mrs Bouquet
