Title: Toxic to algae / slime but not to plants...??
Post by: Stewarty on August 03, 2018, 12:15
During the warm weather we have been using a 10-foot inflatable swimming  / paddling pool -  it fills to a depth of about 2ft 6in and is perfect for geriatric grandparents and lively grandchildren alike.  But after about 6 days it has turned quite green, and is not inviting to plunge into  -  it's also then too warm to be refreshing. So there is fairly arduous emptying, cleaning, and, unless we've gone into a cooler, showery blip, re-filling.
The emptying process creates tidal waves of water that I can direct to every corner of the garden, so it does a great job of a deep watering of the lawn and borders. So much so that I have absolutely no guilt about misuse of water!
But I'd love advice as to whether there is any chemical or product that I can put in the pool when filling that will inhibit the rather rapid growth of green slime in the pool, but not harm the grass, plants, flowers when I empty the pool.....
All thoughts welcome...
