In April I bought two Cornus shrubs on-line. One was supposed to be Cornus kesselringii (still not sure if it is) but the other one was supposed to be Cornus "Midwinter Fire" as per attached label. On receipt, I took a pic as the new stems weren't the right colour and it didn't look very healthy either. The firm agreed it was the wrong plant and I was re-imbursed. Now it has put on some growth at last, I am not sure what it is. Anyone any clues?

Blimey, a toughie. Do you think it could be a variety of Weigela or Philadelphus? It looks like it's been in the pot a fair while and probably lost its true label.

The leaves certainly suggest it could be one of those - um.

I looked at the pic before reading your text and immediately thought Cornus.
.... so that's not much help..

It's ok - the leaves do look like a cornus as well but if it is, it's a very poor specimen!

Looks like cornus leaves, maybe they are turning early. I would repot it into fresh compost and larger pot.
