it is possible following the usual softwood cutting rules (ie cut them when the stem is soft but not from a flowering bit; leaves only, then strip the leaves off to about 2" of stem and cut just at the base of the leaf nodes then propagate in moist compost until rooted) however I didn't have any luck with any bits that I did but had loads of sucess with growing them from seed.

how easy are they to grow from seed suzi ? How early do they flower? Do they grow and flower in that year ? I would like to do this and use a lot of lavender plants as a hedge.

If I break a bit of lavender off a bush and stick it in rooting powder then into a pot it grows!!!!  (usually!!!!)  never tried them from seed myself though, never neded to.

lavender cuttings take really easy, as mentioned take from a non flowering stem ,cut about 3 inches ,take any lower leaves off then use a pencil or like to make a hole then put cutting in the hole cover the base of cutting and water ,keep moist for a while as cuttings lose water through the leaves ,in a few weeks you will have a rooted cutting.seed is expensive and variable but its up to you .hope this helps steve

Oh, they grow easy enough from seed, but I haven't really looked after mine this year so no flowers yet;  perhaps they flower in their second year or I've just been very bad!
