What about sand?

I tipped a bag of sharp sand under the coop, and it's fine, but......it does compact very easily.

It's been very dry here too for what seems months.  I hang a cabbage or cauliflower in the run and the hens love those too.  Cabbage seems to be the favourite.  Defrost some peas for them - yum!  Another goody is a bag of fresh spinach leaves.  Chop them up abit first.  DON'T give them purple cabbage - turquiose poo - I'm NOT kidding!

  i was going to post about feeding them red cabbage we have quite a fewwwwwwwwwwwwww growing mum always o.t.ts it on most veg and although i suppsoe they are still good enough for us to eat i wasnt sure if the girls could have red ones .
