I use bonemeal or FBB (only because I haven't bothered to read up - flowers are not my thing) but I do know that they like their roots cool and undisturbed so mine is planted behind some small evergreens and when I water i give 'em a good drenching as opposed to a little tinkle - mine is flowering away at the moment with big white flowers

get hold of some mushroom compost they love the lime.That's all I feed mine

i used bonemeal ,
my youny clematis didnt like it and they died back ,as did the young blueberry tree,
im hoping their come back next year fine

I don't actually feed my plants as such. I just spread a small amount of compost around the plants every Spring.
