RED MITE!!!!
« on: October 12, 2011, 13:33 »
Hi All,

Just over a month ago, my husband and i treated our girls for red mite, and took their coop apart and jet washed it then treated that. Since then we have regularly sprayed the house but having emptied everything out today we have another major infestation. I have taken it apart again (although this time i don't think it will go back together!) sprayed it with a strong bleach solution and then jet washed it. The problem we have is the coop is made up of T&G boards. Am i wasting my time with repeatedly taking it apart, and should i convert an outbuilding i have for them instead.

The girls  seem fine, still laying regularly and combs lovely and red so not to worried bout them at the moment, just don't want to keep putting them in a coop that will always suffer badly with the mites

any advice from you lovely hen peeps would be great. :D

Before you put it back together give it a good coating of this slurry mixture which should help.
