Title: fungal infection

Hi All
My vet gave me aureomycin to treat one of my hens for a fungal infection will that work since its an antibiotic.. should it not be a anti fungal drug..
any ideas

some fungal infections do need antibiotics  :)

Its an antibiotic (a tetracycline), it won't work on fungi.

Its worth phoning him or her up to get a clarification.

if it is vent gleet - which is a fungal infection - it is now recognised that it needs an antibiotic treatment.

she has a sour crop which it looks like it might be improving since i started making her get sick i also have to get her some more probiotic yogurts..

its not improving it had reduced in size this morning but now this evening i went out to check on the hens and there she was running towards me with her water balloon waving about the place.
iam not a happy chappy
