one question - is it 2-stroke and fuel tank under engine? if yes - replace air filter 
P.S. why do you need readjust carb if trimmer just sat in the shed?

figured it out, but now i need a special tool to adjust the carb, tryed all sorts but need the special tool!!

did you find what tool you needed ? I need that tool but not sure what its called
