We get a fantastic show of bluebells every Spring....shame they're not English because the Spanish ones are pretty rampant.
I built 18" high raised beds last year and dug about a foot deep under them to get any weed roots or bulbs.
Blow me! There are bluebells coming up in the beds!!!
Luckily it seems to be easy to gently pull the stalks up...all 2' or so long. I'm hoping this will weaken the bulb which is still there!

I can understand why people plant the spanish one's, I'm on my 2nd attempt to naturalise English one's in my garden. (Cultivated Bulbs in the green).

Spanish do seem to take better, but not good for our natives, hence I'm trying again with the English variety.

Do stick with the English ones spottymint. The spanish ones will run riot - I have been trying to get rid of them for 14 years here.
