I know someone who has layers and meat birds.

The layers have individual names and the meat birds are all called "Dinner"  :D

Oh bless, there is no way I could do that, apart from being a veggie for 15 years, I just could not have animals and then eat them.

I think I would find it easier to go out hunting so I had not formed a relationship with my dinner.

Yeah i know your right Aunt Sally - and I dont normally have a problem eating chicken

(its just the bit that gets it for my handsome baby Copper - to stuffed dinner)

i guess i'm not the tough cookie I once was..... Years ago i hand reared 2 lambs and they were called Chop and Sauce (but i still cried buckets when they were slaughtered)

I wouldn't put a cock with ex-battery hens if I were you.  They won't be used to being stomped on by a cock and it won't make any differenc to the amount of eggs they lay.  How many exbattery hens do you have  :?:

Well fluffy, i cant keep him because of the crowing noise (neighbours),  the like the chickens but asked me not to get a cock because of the noise .

My chickens are kept in the garden not on an allotment.

Kizza - The RIR is a heavy breed not a bantum (12 weeks old) - if you want more info feel free to pm me
