I have a Joseph Bentley digging spade which is good but probably use the really long handled one I got from lidls for a tenner the most. JB tools are very traditional looking and built to last.
The best I think are De Wit border spades, but at around 80 quid a pop, I don't think I'll be having one.

I have a good old B&Q type.. thick and strong cast steel.. Stainless is a waste of time as they are weak and bend easily as do the types that are welded together.
Now a member of the 10 Ton club.... 2013  harvested 588 Kg from 165 sq mt..

Try the Bulldog proffesional range, a bit dearer but worth it.

If bulldog tools are good enough for the Queen with which to kit out sevice person's married quarters,   (this practise stopped many moons ago) but I've still got mine and with "the crowfoot brand" still on it.

Cheers,   Tony.
