When I picked these up at Tesco's I was surprised to see that they are actually bigger than what I thought they'd be.

The website says 2.5cm but in reality they are much bigger - see pic.

They're not made of the thickest material but with careful cutting you can get a reasonable tight fit on a cane.

The price now is only £2.41.

I've used empty beer cans or plastic bottles but I'm thinking I may revise this decision as I don't want the can paint or bottle BPAs leeching into my veg.  I like the sound of using wine bottle corks so I may steal some from my brewing gear  :ohmy:

I am trying the ultimate in being frugal with my canes...
As they are all home grown from a bamboo living in my garden.
The downside is they are not the tallest, but they do fine, and the bamboo benefits from the annual harvest (which also stops it taking over!)
Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....
