Fruit bushes 10p at Homebase
« on: January 03, 2013, 14:53 »
I couldn't believe what I was seeing........ Blackberry, gooseberry, raspberry ...... All priced up at 10p per box. Some boxes had three bushes in, the raspberry for example. Not canes mind you, proper bushes.
Granted the 'bushes' are very small but I am sure that if I give the roots a good soak and get them in the ground pronto they will be OK.
And got a 4 for the price of 3 as well! 10 boxes for 80p. Might not all grow but for 80p I am willing to take the chance.

title changed for clarity

I popped into homeb a few days ago they had reduced their boxes of twigs down to 49p but they'd been there months so I was concerned they would have dried out. My branch also sell potted fruit bushes but these are pricey and no reductions yet.

If it bare-root fruit, you have a reasonable chance of it still being OK.  It comes in leafless so looks fairly twig-like, but if the buds are bursting, its alive alright  :)

At 10 for 80p its worth a go.  Even if only half take, you've got a major bargain  :D
