Hubby says we can't pick until may  :blink:but one of our plants is huge and The kids want crumble. What's the old wives tale about may then.

Mine isn't ready yet but a woman down the road from me has a massive plant and has been picking it since the beginning of this month.  I got some off her earlier in the month and it was gorgeous.

Our other three are not ready but this one is. It's root system Stretches the whole 3 foot across the bed it's in. Maybe this year it needs dividing.

This is my Rhubarb yesterday, its normally a late developer but this season its later than ever. That said most of the Rhubarb on our site is late this year.

A couple of years ago I forced it, I wont be doing that again because the taste was a bit wishy washy.

I picked a couple if stalks from each of my plants on Sun... They were big and I love rhubarb!

ours was moved in autumn into the front garden, 1 crown has medium leaves and the other 3 are just coming to leaf, even the oddments of root that I just threw in on an off chance seem to be producing a new crown.

been picking my early variety for a  month now, and the other variety just now. Go by what it looks like, not the date. ENJOY!

I picked some at the weekend. I seem to remember reading somewhere that once the leaf is fully open that particular stick isn't going to get any bigger anyway.

  guess we will have to wait then got our first crown reduced at wilkos yesterday and are planting it today  . . .guess we will just have to forget this year then !!!

I forced mine for the first time. had to take the plastic bin off because leaves were rotting. Looks tall and pale. Will picking it now because forced make me unable to pick later in summer ?
