Plot in the shade
« on: August 02, 2011, 21:33 »
I have got a piece of land in my vegtable garden that does get much sun only in the late afternoon what would be possible to grow in this area.

Ive got a bed that is very shaded.  Salad, parsley, chives, coriander, and even kale all seem to love it.  I also got pretty big parsnips from it at first time of trying.

Just watch out for moss - constant battle...

Cukes and sweet peppers will also grow in part shade.

My allotment at my grandmas house is covered by a huge oak tree and is in shade for most of the day, but everything seems to grow well, it grows slightly slower but im yet to notice any negative effects on the plants, well, not from the shade anyway :)

If shade is caused by trees, remember thier roots may well be underneath your plot soaking up all of the water, too...
