Help identifying my Rotavator?
« on: July 06, 2009, 16:00 »
Hi,

Can anyone shed any light as to the make/model of my rotavator please?
Pictures are below and larger versions are on the following page:

http://www.bigbunny.plus.com/rotavator.htm

I've seen an identical one advertised on ebay as a, "Westwood":

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Westwood-3hp-Rotavator-Rotovator-Cultivator-Tiller_W0QQitemZ320391041013QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Home_Garden_GardenPowerTools_CA?hash=item4a98cb4ff5&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1686|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50

But I've been in touch with Countax (who now own the Westwood brand) and they just badged them from another manufacturer.

It's in need of some TLC.... and a new drive belt.

Thanks

Darron

Hello Darron,
I suspect your tiller is a Templar Tiller 300?..

I reckon I can see traces of the Templar light blue in the ends of the box section in front of the engine.  Not the light blue of the repainted guard but a lighter shade from the original paint finish.?
Does that tally.?..is there a lighter shade of blue under the orange/red.?? perhaps have look under a fitting or the handlebar grips...

Now what I don't know is who actually made the chassis.??..although it seems that at least two companies applied badges to it ;)

Perhaps a third?... as a few years ago now our local ag dealer www.rhcrawford.com  acquired some end of line chassis and sprayed grey they were sold out locally with one of their machinery stickers on..I think it was this chassis design.  At the time they were Westwood agents moving then to Countax...

...and a bit of Templar trivia...they also made a hover mower...the Templar Turbo...which later became the Crown hover mower, I believe.  I think this went on to be the basis of the Allen hover range.??

All the best,
             "Dori"

Hi Dori - you are a star!!

You're absolutely spot on, there is light blue paint under the orange!
I've since found this on ebay which purports to be a Templar Tiller 300:

Now I just need to source a new drive belt and throttle cable....

Thank you so much for your help!
