Bulbs
« on: June 10, 2011, 18:22 »
I had tulips in some pots in the spring.  The foliage hasn't yet died off properly; there's quite a bit of green still on the leaves.

I know you're supposed to let them die down completely in order for the bulb to bulk up properly for next year.  But I need to plant my tomatoes out ...

Will the bulbs probably be OK or do I need to do something more with the bulbs?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Mine have been cut long since and they still flower each year

I've been known to carefully lift them with a bit of soil attached at the base and into a new hole with some BFB. They recover nicely because they're somewhere they can totally die down now.

I've plonked loads of mine into a trough with some compost in and tucked it away. I'll plant them out in October when I've got some room.
